Phileas in Florida - Pt 1

Having got over her jet lag, Phileas has been seeing the sites. Words and images from John Hughes:

I finally got Philias to the beach today after returning from Montana. The surf was pathetic but I wanted to get the mat in the water and get acquainted. I fully expected a "float" rather than a surf, but to my surprise I caught a couple of fun ,knee high dribblers. No photos today but we are expecting chest to head high surf with offshores by mid-week and I will be prepared :-).

After we left the beach I took Philius around Cocoa Beach to see some of the sights.

First we stopped to pay homage to the shrine of hometown boy, Kelly Slater.

Next we took Philias to the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum to meet some of his American cousins.

Philias and a family portrait at the "Paipo, Prone to Ride" exhibit. Then back home for a bath and a nap.

Fantastic stuff you pair. I can't wait to see how you get on when the waves come.

TOUCHDOWN!!!

Literally minutes after posting that Phileas was en route to John Hughes in Miami, this photo arrived:

John Hughes and Phileas

It looks like the timing is just a tiny bit out but perhaps that's for the best:

Philias has arrived in sunny Florida! (disregard the rain and gray skies in the photo). In a case of exquisite international postal serendipity, the mat arrived just as I am leaving town for a week. However, this is probably for the best since the surf is utterly flat again. The forecasts are calling for an increase in tropical activity toward the end of of the week, so we may be able to get photos of Philias in actual surf. The mat looks great (I really like the valve) and I can’t wait to put it through it’s paces. Stay tuned.

The New World...

Phileas has left the Shetlands, bound for the East coast of the US. In fact, according to Parcel Force:

has arrived in KENNEDY NEW YORK and is being processed for delivery.

First stop is with John Hughes in Miami and should be there really soon.

I'm looking forward to seeing the stuff from Sean in the Shetlands. Certainly a place that fascinates me.

Talk About Momentum!!!

Right then, when I launched this idea I figured we were looking at a handful of the mat community passing a mat from one to the other. What has happened is it's gone off far more than I suspected!

So then, as of right now the following places are covered so please, no more requests:

US mainland, Earstern Australia, SW France, UK mainland.

Where is sparcely covered or not covered at all so please get in touch to volunteer!:

The whole Indian Ocean, Africa, South & Central America, Canada/Alaska, Russia, Asia. Portugal, Spain, The Med.

Anyone in these areas please get in touch.

Thanks for all the support on this to all who have volunteered already. I'm truly blown away.

Cheers
