Phileas was the 50th mat to come out of the G-Mat workshop. To celebrate this, and to say thank you for all the support I've been shown by the mat world, I thought it fitting to send her off around the world.
This blog is a record of Phileas' journey. As she gets around and people send me their pictures and and some words I'll put them up on here.
Around the world in... Well... Who knows?!

Word from Ian Jermyn about his first outing on Phileas in Antipodean waters. Many thanks to Ian's wife, Muireann De Buiteleir for the photo's. Follow her on Instagram @muirmaid_
Here's what Ian had to say:
"This is not a surf spot. I highly doubt folks make a bee-line for this place when conditions are good. Yeah, the northern coastline of Tasmania does have its spots this is definitely not one of them. I do however, have a fetish for stopping and attempting to ride waves that would, arguably should, be ignored.
Maybe it's in the Australian spirit of giving someone or something "a fair go". I figured no-one else was going to give this "break" a fair go and put it on the map as ridable so I decided it was the perfect place to introduce Phileas to Australian waters."
"It was only after an hour-long session (yep, I was having that much fun) that I discovered the name of this place - Cooee. In Australia the "coo-ee" is a loud, shrill call used to communicate over long distances. And, to me at least, it seems that's what Phileas is about. This rare craft is a vehicle for the creation and transportation of stories. It's a coo-ee that's echoing around the world."
"I feel privileged to be part of this. However, I would be doing Phileas a terrible injustice if this was the only taste of Tassie waves it had. If folks don't mind I'll hang on to it for wee bit longer so we can find a decent meal."
More to come then. A real place of intrigue, Van Diemen's Land and Ian is exploring... Exciting!
Cheers
