MATSURFERS.COM ARCHIVE
Before becoming a mat builder I set up a web forum for matsurfers in the UK to come together to surf. Imaginitively it was named UK Mat Surfers. At that point, around 2008, there were probably no more than 10 mat riders in the UK and the global population was certainly under 200. The forum quickly became very popular with people around the globe, then developing into a full website which has been a helpful resource for surfmat riders from across the globe for over a decade. Ultimately, the name was changed to MatSurfers.com to reflect the international reach of the site.
There was always a tricky balance for me being a mat builder and running the MatSurfers.com, even with help from Ken McKnight, Jamie McClellan and Bryn Dampney. I decided to freeze activity on the site at the end of 2023, continuing to pay for it being hosted since but with ever rising costs this became increasingly expensive so at the end of 2025 I decided to cancel hosting. I have acrchive the site on the Way Back Machine site, and as PDFs, so that people can still make use of it.
Downloadable PDFs
I have saved each individual page from the All About Mats section of the MatSurfers.com site as downloadable PDFs below. The other site sections are available as ZIP files.
Surfmat Care & Repair Videos
Videos are often unplayable on the Wayback Machine site, so the the Surfmat Care and Repair videos have been posted below. They can also be viewed over at the MatSurfers.com YouTube channel and on the @matsurfers Instagram page.
